Spyker C12 Zagato
The Spyker C12 Zagato, with an ultra-exclusive limited
run of only 24 units, is a striking supercar. The Spyker C12 Zagato
features sharp, edgy looks from all possible angles, incorporating
the Spyker's trademark aeronautical retrospective design cues. This
will be the company's third production car and was unveiled during
the Geneva Auto Show in March of 2007.

The Spyker C12 Zagato comes in celebration of the Dutch
company's takeover of the Midland Formula One team, incorporating
many design elements and styling cues from their F1 racer,
the F8-VII.

Rarer than a Ferrari FXX and priced
at an extravagant $648000, it is set to start production in March
of 2008.
The Spyker Zagato is built on the chassis of the company's flagship
C12 model and is designed in conjunction with the famous Zagato
design group, responsible for many classic supercar designs such
as the Aston Martin DB4 Zagato. The initial design meeting for the
vehicle was held as early as July 2006, held on pause for a while
and later resumed after Spyker successfully finished the Midland
acquisition.
Features
The all-aluminum rear-wheel drive of the C12 Zagato houses a mid-mounted
6.0 liter Volkswagen AG W12 engine producing a powerful 500 bhp
with an optional supercharger to further crank it up to 650 bhp.
It has a maximum torque of 610 Nm at 6500 rpm. The Spyker C12 Zagato
manages a top speed of 186 mph with acceleration from 0 to 60 mph
at only 3.8 seconds.
The Spyker C12's transmission is available in either manual or
six-speed automatic with F1-style controls. Relatively lightweight
for its power at only 3086 lbs, the Spyker C12 Zagato is shelled
by an aluminum body with stainless steel roof rails. It stands on
turbine-blade wheels and sports scissor doors and the signature
chopped tail. The C12 brings sophisticated aerodynamics absorbed
from both Spyker's and Zagato's aircraft building histories.
The 2-door coupe borrows a lot of design cues from F1 racing cars,
including:
* nose
* air intakes
* chimneys
* mirrors
* rain light fuel flap
* diffuser
The Spyker C12 Zagato's interior is clad in unmistakably Dutch
orange-colored full leather with a brushed aluminum instrument panel
and accents. The cockpit-inspired dash features Chronoswiss instruments
and the cabin is topped with a new double bubble panoramic roof.
Worth The Price?
Many have criticized Spyker's handling power in the past and with
this model not improving on any of it, much of the price is strictly
based on its artful design and exclusivity. However, with enough
power on reserve and the company's signature craftsmanship and elegance,
the Spyker C12 Zagato will definitely have its place in an enthusiast's
luxury collection.
