Phaeton Lounge
The Volkswagen Phaeton Lounge, first presented to
the luxury-conscious Dubai Motor Show in 2005, is the world's first
all-wheel drive limousine. The surprise Volkswagen concept is built
out of three Phaeton bodies with the sillboard and tunnel area reinforced
for strength, and was conceived by Volkswagen Individual, the company's
in-house customizer.

The Phaeton Lounge is a one-off and was intended as
both a study and a showcase of Volkswagen's ability to provide
performance feats in engineering, design and luxury.

Beaming exclusivity, the stretch Phaeton Lounge is designed to
hold only 6 passengers with the cabin only seating four, albeit
in pampered fashion. The Phaeton Lounge offers the kind of ride
you'll be averse to take for a 15-minute trip because with so much
to offer, you will want to stay in a little longer.
Features
The Phaeton Lounge is built on a reinforced chassis and houses
a Volkswagen-standard W12 engine with 420 bhp and a maximum torque
of 600 Nm. The limousine features an electronically-limited top
speed of 110 mph. The Phaeton Lounge's transmission is a six-speed
Tiptronic automatic.
The Phaeton Lounge measures 22 feet long and is clad in shiny black
piano lacquer with dark, shimmering chrome accents throughout its
smooth, flowing body. It weighs close to 8000 lbs.
Like with every limousine, the real story is inside the cabin.
The Phaeton Lounge features wooden floorboards divided by aluminum
strips, the kind you often see in luxury yachts. The decor and middle
console are built of the same dark, wide pore oak wood. The seats
and panels are decked with beautifully contrasting leathers.
But the fun doesn't end with the wealthy build. The rear cabin
of the Phaeton Lounge features all the comfort and excess you can
wish for in a stretch limo.
The limited 4-passengers only seating allows for plenty of room,
wildly adjustable seats with fold-out tables and individual adjustable
footrests. Indulgingly installed are a 12-liter refrigerator, wine
coolers between each seat, an extensive minibar and a humidor cigar
cabinet for the smoking aficionados.
Entertainment in the Phaeton Lounge is provided by two 17-inch
monitors installed in the overhead walls, a complete DVD entertainment
system, numerous Bluetooth peripherals, an iPod dock and built-in
UMTS broadband access.
An extra 7-inch screen is also provided in the rear for the infotainment
system display and operation. Map navigation in the Phaeton Lounge
utilizes either of the two available monitors. Air conditioning
can be adjusted individually for each seating position as well.
Overall
The Phaeton Lounge is a tastefully executed vehicle, offering comfort
and luxury with capable driving power. The Lounge limo paints a
serene, simple elegance from the outside and a generous, decadent
extravagance within.
