Mercedes SLR 722
The Mercedes SLR 722 debuted at the Paris Motor Show
in 2006, and is DaimlerChryslers' update to the SLR McLaren. The
Mercedes Benz SLR 722 sports a sleeker look and boasts more powerful
features than its predecessor. With the typical class of a Benz,
supercar power, and driver-friendly disposition, this is one of
the most exciting road vehicles you are ever going to see.

Despite reaching top speeds of 209 mph, its practical design affords
it a high level of ease for everyday driving situations and long-distance
travel. The Mercedes SLR 722 is listed as the fastest automatic
transmission vehicle in the world.
Only 150 models of the Mercedes SLR 722, with many handcrafted
parts, are reported to have been produced and retails for a rich
$450,000. Every single one has been sold.
Features
This limited-edition Mercedes SLR 722 sports a 5.5-liter supercharged
V8 engine hand-built by the AMG engine shop. The SLR 722 packs a
usable power of 650 bhp at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 820
Nm at 4000 rpm. Racking up 0 to 60 mph takes a mere 3.6 seconds.
The engine is fitted front and middle for extra capacity in the
trunk.
The suspension of the Mercedes SLR 722 has been upgraded from the
previous SLR, along with installing 19-inch black light-alloy wheels,
revised damper configuration, modified front spoiler, and a brand
new rear-diffuser. The splitter increases front downforce by an
impressive 128 percent.
The Mercedes SLR 722's flip-up rear wing rises up a further five
degrees to help balance the ride at very high-speeds. Responding
to consumer complaints with the brakes on its predecessor, the SLR
722 features larger carbon-ceramic front brakes and boasts a stronger
grip.
The cabin of the Mercedes SLR 722 packs ultra-comfortable bucket-type
sport seats with leather and Alcantara upholstery, a convenient
dashboard, and black carbon highlights. The SLR 722's body is built
with the strong and lightweight clear-lacquered carbon, making it
slightly lighter than the original SLR by about 97 pounds.
The Mercedes SLR 722 allows a good amount of space for regular
storage needs, including over 9 cubic feet of trunk capacity with
additional storage units within the center console, behind the seats
and under the rear shelf.
Performance
Most enthusiasts admire the sportier look of the SLR 722 as a highly
demanded upgrade after the original SLR first came out.
The SLR has traditionally been regarded by some as an identity-confused
creation. The Mercedes SLR 722 is no different. On the one hand,
it is runs with an automatic gearbox, is extremely comfortable,
and drives smoothly at a refined speed.
On the other, the Mercedes SLR 722 features a stiffened suspension,
racecar steering, and dead-feel brakes. Comparisons with the SLR
McLaren have people split as some love the faster and stronger output;
others bemoan the loss of some driving controls more prominent in
the original.
There were also complaints of a consistent vertical choppiness
at the back of the Mercedes SLR 722 despite running on smooth open
roads. Additionally, the steering is harder to place, needing many
corrections during a relatively average test.
The speed of the Mercedes SLR 722 is brutal and the engine howls
disconcertingly at high-speeds, which is a characteristic fans seemed
to enjoy. The SLR 722 combines the luxury elements of a typical
Mercedes with the get up and go of a supercar. For fans, the Mercedes
SLR 722 is like no other.
