Koenigsegg CCR
The Koenigsegg CCR 2-door, 2-seater coupe is a beautiful
brute. While the Koenigsegg CCR looks bigger and bulkier than other
sports cars, it has one of the most fluid designs and is clearly
tuned for a single purpose, speed. It's aerodynamic build sports
a low drag coefficient of 0.30 and is considered one of the fastest

The Koenigsegg CCR briefly held the world speed record
for a production car, setting it in February of 2005, breaking
at top speed of 241 mph while driving in a constant turning
motion. The CCR has a projected maximum speed of 250 mph
on a straight line.

The test was held in the Nardo Prototipo proving ground in Italy,
which hosted a circular racetrack. The record was broken a month
later on a straight track by a Bugatti super car, but was enough
to solidify Koenigsegg's position as one of the fastest road machines
in the market.
Cursed with a hard-to-pronounce name, the Koenigsegg CCR can further
melt the words out of your mouth with its stunning beauty. It looms
at you like a complete, well-rounded predator with its size, design
and performance. The side air apertures and front splitter give
the Koenigsegg CCR a bold and unique look. The hard top is easily
removed and lends a different look when kept down. The vertically-hinged
doors, the electronically adjustable ride height, and the large
19-inch front wheels all come together beautifully to offer a ride
most of us can only dream of ever enjoying.

The Power
Powered by a supercharged 4.7-litre V8 engine, the Koenigsegg CCR
coupe can go from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.2 seconds and claims to
achieve a quarter-mile in 9 seconds flat. The engine is mounted
behind the driver in the mid-rear position, and uses a Swedish Lysholm
twin-screw compressor and an exhaust system made of high-grade titanium.
The electronically operated clutch (dual plate and oil-cooled)
allows for amazingly fast gear shifts. Both body and chassis are
made from carbon fiber, reinforced by Kevlar and aluminum honeycomb,
as well as hard-foam lightweight sandwich reinforcements. The suspension
system has been declared by expert test-drivers to provide better
handling than any competing supercar during its time.
The Koenigsegg CCR's top recorded speed from the Nardo Prototipo
run is 387.87 kph at 6790 rpm. It has a maximum engine revolution
of 7600 rpm and produces a colossal 806 bhp and a torque of 920
Nm at 5700 rpm. Fuel consumption is estimated at 13 liters for every
60 miles driven and the Koenigsegg CCR needs a mere 100 feet of
ground when decelerating from 60 mph to zero.
The Koenigsegg CCR has custom-built racing shock absorbers that
allow extensive fine-tuning to suit preferences and adjustments
for an optimal racing experience.
The Price
The Koenigsegg CCR retails for $595,000, less than half the price
of the Bugatti's $1.2 million Veryron which edged its speed record
to officially become the fastest production car in September of
2005.
Like all Koenigsegg supercars, it is highly customizable and built
specially for each buyer. Possible customizations are the extreme-racing
Twin-Fin wings which provide down-force without obstructing the
rear view, 20-inch Koenigsegg magnesium wheels, bigger brakes, a
sequential gearbox, and rear parking sensors.
