They have a deep resume of glorious design work for elite manufacturers
such as Aston Martin and Rolls Royce. Hoping to rival the cream
of the crop of Europe's coach-building industry, they show off their
exquisitely designed concepts at shows, often to great audience
response.
Intended to showcase the company's design principles and show car
expertise more than anything else, the DC Gaia is likely never to
make it into production but is worthy of huge accolades nonetheless.
The DC Gaia takes cues from iconic vehicles such as the Bentley
Blower and the Bugatti Royale, both considered to be classics for
their power and beauty. DC takes that inspiration into the Gaia
and packages it in a distinctive, updated, and powerful ride.
With hand-beaten body panels, a mix of traditional and modern exterior
design, and a luxurious and classy cabin, the DC Gaia is a perfect
spokesperson for the company's expertise, all without saying a word.
Features
Limited knowledge is known about the DC Gaia with its sparce viewing
in auto shows. The DC Gaia was presented as housing a transverse-mounted
Garret GT28-Turboladers 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine capable of producing
276 bhp, and running at a top speed of 150 mph.
The DC Gaia boasts unusual proportions with a width that resembles
many trucks, an extended hood typical of iconic GT designs, and
very large arches.
The DC Gaia possesses an imposing 80-inch width and looks very
muscular from the nose. The frame is beautifully huge, tipping the
scales at a heavyweight 4960 lbs. The burnished front grill is nothing
short of scary and evokes images of large trucks built for the hard
roads. Aluminum machined inserts line the bumper, a tribute to the
legendary vehicles that inspired it. The DC Gaia looks mean and
bold, ready for battle.
While looking like a truck from the nose, the boat-tail rear evokes
a sports car personality. Boasting jagged lines and curvy angles,
the DC Gaia brings an attractive athletic quality.
The Gaia looks most gorgeous from the side, with a traditional,
long-snout hood, massive arches and flowing lines that close at
sharp angles, lending a unique feel. The DC Gaia is fitted with
large doors and generous windshield and rear windows for maximum
sightline visibility. The arches are filled with large bespoke 22-inch
all-alloy wheels with a machined finish. The Gaia has wheelbase
of 116 inches.
The interior of the DC Gaia strays away from modern cabin design,
preferring a spacious and elegant aesthetic with single, unified
surfaces, fitted with hand-crafted fine leather in two tones. The
cabin offers plenty of boot room and adequate headspace. It is lined
with bright colors and angular aluminum accents. The dashboard of
the DC Gaia features a small central information screen.
Last Thoughts
With its massive frame, muscular looks, roomy cabin, and decent
engine potential, the DC Gaia makes for an exciting quality road
vehicle. It is unfortunate we'll likely never see the DC Gaia on
the streets.
